At Focus on Function, we believe in the power of community, connection, and continuous improvement. After attending the recent Clinic Mastery Business Summit, Jess and I returned home feeling inspired, motivated, and ready to take action. We’ve spent time reflecting on how we can better serve our regional participants—especially those living with catastrophic injuries—and how we can continue to create a thriving, supportive workplace for our amazing team.
We are excited to share some of the practical, purposeful actions we’re working on, all aimed at enhancing the journey for both our participants and our team.
For Our Regional Participants
Living in regional areas shouldn’t mean missing out on world-class allied health and nursing services. We’re on a mission to bridge the gap and bring innovative, participant-centred care to those who need it most. Here’s what we’re rolling out:
- Streamlined Client Journeys
We’re refining the participant experience, from their first enquiry through to achieving their goals. Whether it’s a participant in our Exercise Physiology program or those requiring complex iCare case management, we’re mapping their journey to ensure clarity, support, and exceptional care every step of the way. - Industry Leadership
We’re dedicated to being leaders in our field, especially in catastrophic injury management. This includes speaking at universities, providing professional development for rural clinicians, and sharing knowledge to upskill our industry and lift the standard of care across NSW. - Clear, Compassionate Communication
We’re improving our communication systems—fact sheets, onboarding materials, and participant pathways—so that participants and their families know what to expect and feel supported throughout their journey with us. - Showcasing Our Values
We want our community to see our values in action. From handwritten cards and regular check-ins to recognising the personal wins of our participants, we’re committed to showing that people come first.
For Our Incredible Team
Our team is at the heart of everything we do. When we invest in our people, we create a positive ripple effect that benefits every participant we work with. Here’s what we’re doing to create an exceptional workplace:
- Team Connection & Culture
From daily huddles that focus on priorities and celebrating wins, to our “big why” workshops, we’re nurturing a culture of clarity, purpose, and passion. - Professional Growth & Leadership
We’re investing in career pathways, leadership training, and new graduate support to ensure our team members feel confident and valued. Our team days now include sharing personal insights and professional journeys to deepen connections. - Recognition & Rewards
We’re exploring ways to better recognise the hard work and dedication of our team, including new reward systems, handwritten notes, and personal shout-outs. We know small moments of recognition create a big impact. - Efficient Systems & Tools
We’re streamlining templates, systems, and resources to make it easier for our clinicians to focus on what matters most—providing great care. From onboarding templates to Google Ads aimed at recruitment for our Exercise Physiology team, we’re building a workplace where everyone can thrive.
Looking Ahead: Our Big Vision for 2026
We’ve set ambitious, purpose-driven goals to achieve by March 2026:
- Expand our iCare services and be the go-to provider for complex injuries.
- Lead the way in industry education and professional development for rural clinicians.
- Create a workplace where people love to work, grow, and make a difference.
At Focus on Function, we are deeply committed to enhancing the lives of people in regional areas, ensuring they have access to high-quality, compassionate care—and building a workplace that inspires and empowers our team every single day.
Here’s to a brighter, better future for our participants, our team, and our communities!
